More than 800 wildfires are burning across Canada, including about 190 in northern Ontario. The sharp increase in fires is widely associated with climate change, while dense smoke has produced hazardous air quality in parts of Canada and in the US states of Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan and New York. The pollution is raising concerns before Sunday’s World Cup final at an open-air stadium in New Jersey. Donald Trump has meanwhile blamed Canada’s forest management and threatened action.
