World2026 RIMPAC Exercise Completes Live-Fire Sinking Drill

The 2026 Rim of the Pacific exercise has carried out a live-fire sinking drill in waters near Hawaii. The retired USS Mobile Bay cruiser and USS Peleliu amphibious assault ship sank into deep water amid large explosions. Forces from Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States took part in the exercise. The drill showcased the combined striking capability of US and Japanese missiles, with US Army Apache attack helicopters also participating.
