ScienceWarming Mediterranean waters draw hundreds of invasive species
Scientists say rising temperatures are reshaping the Mediterranean Sea, one of the world’s busiest and most biodiverse marine regions. A growing presence of invasive species is emerging as one sign of that ecological transformation. Marine biologists have identified about 1,000 invasive species, including fish that once lived only in other regions. The sea could become up to 6°C hotter by the end of the century. Its enclosed nature makes the changes particularly pronounced.
