SocietyNParks to sterilise long-tailed macaques at Maju Forest to manage population

Singapore’s National Parks Board is introducing a sterilisation programme for long-tailed macaques in Maju Forest. The effort aims to manage their numbers and reduce encounters between residents and wildlife. Nearby residents had reported repeated incidents of macaques entering their homes. Authorities also plan to limit human food sources and deploy monkey-guarding patrols. Singapore is home to about 1,900 native long-tailed macaques.
