TechCourt orders Instagram owner Meta to pay nearly $1 billion over child safety risks

A New Mexico judge ordered Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, to pay nearly $1 billion after the company was found to have put children and teenagers at risk. The amount includes $567 million for a harm-prevention and awareness fund and $375 million in civil penalties previously set by a jury.
