Beekeepers in Peru’s Madre de Dios region are using stingless Melipona bees to help restore rainforest damaged by illegal gold mining and logging. One sanctuary keeps more than 40,000 bees to pollinate native trees, while Shipibo Indigenous communities have traditionally used their honey as medicine for generations.
