Japan’s Meteorological Agency says radar analysis indicates that extremely heavy rain fell near Rikubetsu in Hokkaido. Around 90 millimetres is believed to have fallen in one hour by 2 p.m. The agency warned that the danger of disaster was imminent. It issued a “record short-time heavy rain” weather disaster-prevention alert for the area.
