Russia has never ended its membership in the Peace Implementation Council, the Foreign Ministry says. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described Moscow’s participation in the format as temporarily frozen. Zakharova called Schmidt an impostor and said he had usurped the High Representative post with support from Western countries.
