SocietyAustralian aged care home charged Dorothy $52 a day for services she could not use
An Australian aged care contract included a daily $52 charge for Foxtel, outings, newspapers and a choice of wines. Jeff Gilling was surprised to find the fee in the agreement for his mother Dorothy’s planned stay. The services were of no use to her, and the report says she was not alone. Many aged care residents are reportedly billed for services they cannot use or understand. The regulator has opened an investigation into the practice.
