EconomyEU ramps up Russia’s Yamal LNG purchases as import ban nears
EU countries are increasing purchases of Russia’s Yamal liquefied natural gas as an import ban approaches. The environmental NGO Urgewald estimates that EU states paid 5.96 billion euros, or $6.82 billion, for Yamal LNG cargoes between January and June. The figure indicates the scale of the bloc’s purchases before the planned restriction takes effect. Urgewald presented the estimate in a report on the trade.
