Members of Perth’s Indigenous community told a federal inquiry into racism and hate against First Nations people that authorities dismissed their concerns after an alleged attempted terror attack at an Invasion Day rally. Police had been informed of unspecified threats before the 26 January event but did not meet organisers until afterward. An alleged homemade bomb containing ball bearings, screws and other projectiles was thrown into a crowd of about 2,000 at Forrest Place. Western Australia police classified it as a terror investigation nine days later. Perth man Liam Alexander Hall faces terrorism charges and remains in custody.
