SocietyQueensland unlawfully detained children in adult watch house, tribunal finds

A tribunal has ruled that the Queensland government broke the law and violated the human rights of three children. The teenagers were separately held at the Cairns watch house between June 2021 and 2022, when they were aged 13 to 17. They were detained in an adult-only facility without access to a private toilet or clean clothes. The state has been ordered to apologise for the breaches.
