SocietyYoung men report more ‘sextortion’ than any other age group, Australia’s online safety watchdog says

Australia’s online safety regulator says young men filed more reports of “sextortion” than any other age group. More than 2,000 complaints were submitted to eSafety during six months last year. Its latest transparency report identified “significant gaps” in how major technology platforms respond to online sexual extortion and child sexual exploitation. The regulator said reports of the abuse continue to rise, while examining the approaches of Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, Snap, Discord and WhatsApp.
