PoliticsEU bans gold imports from Sudan
The European Union has banned gold imports from Sudan. It has also restricted the sale, supply, transfer or export of mercury and cyanide to the African country. The chemicals are used in gold mining or gold exploitation. The measures therefore cover both Sudanese gold and materials associated with its extraction.
