Keir Starmer has sealed a £5.2bn trade deal with Switzerland, which is expected to shorten passport queues for British nationals at Swiss airports and border crossings. Britons will be able to use e-gates from later this year, beginning with exit checks at Zurich airport. Basel and Geneva are due to follow next year. The agreement also removes roaming charges and maintains trading terms covering medicines, cars, art, jewellery and other goods. It is described as likely to be Starmer’s last major international agreement as prime minister.
