PoliticsIsrael sets October date for first election since Hamas attacks
Israel will hold a national election in late October, giving voters their first opportunity since the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023 to judge Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition’s handling of the conflicts in Gaza and Iran. The Knesset is due to dissolve on Friday. With only days left in the parliamentary session, the government, described as the most far-right in Israel’s history, is racing to pass controversial legislation before the vote. The election is scheduled for 27 October.
