SocietyAntisemitism royal commission hears universities are failing to address protests and personal attacks

Australia’s royal commission on antisemitism and social cohesion has heard testimony from physics professor Steven Prawer. He said the University of Melbourne needed to demonstrate that it did not “tolerate misbehaviour” after the expulsion of two pro-Palestine student activists who occupied his office was overturned. Prawer said he had not known at the time whether the incident was a “terrorist attack”. The hearing is examining protests and highly personal attacks in university settings.
