PoliticsMacron reviews troops for the last time at France’s annual military parade
French President Emmanuel Macron presided over his final Bastille Day military parade as president. More than 6,000 troops took part, including 500 members of the coalition of the willing. France used the event to put its rearmament and Europe’s strategic autonomy on display. The parade was also intended to signal to the US president and Russia’s Vladimir Putin that Europe is united and ready to defend itself. FRANCE 24 spoke with Paul Smith, head of Modern Languages at the University of Nottingham.
