PoliticsEU rejects Trump administration claims that ICC threatens US sovereignty
The European Union has rejected the Trump administration’s claim that the International Criminal Court threatens US sovereignty. The US government says it intends to “systematically disable” the Hague-based tribunal, which seeks to prosecute some of the world’s gravest crimes. EU spokesperson Anouar El Anouni said the bloc remains firmly supportive of the ICC. He added that attacks or threats against court-elected officials, personnel or people cooperating with the court are “simply not acceptable.”
