A survey by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare found that average income per household rose 7.3% in the year before last compared with the previous year. Even so, 55.4% of households said they were having difficulty making a living. The findings show that higher average income has not prevented many households from feeling financially strained.
