SocietyRevised Sewerage Law enacted to strengthen measures after major Yashio road collapse

Japan’s House of Councillors approved and enacted a revised Sewerage Law on the 15th with a majority vote. The legislation follows a major road collapse in Yashio, Saitama Prefecture, last year. The collapse was caused by corrosion of a sewer pipe. The revision is intended to strengthen measures addressing such risks.
