ScienceT. rex skeleton fetches record $50.1 million at US auction
A Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton known as “Gus” sold for $50.1 million at Sotheby’s in New York on Tuesday. The sale followed a 10-minute contest involving seven bidders and set a record for the most valuable dinosaur fossil purchased at auction. With 183 fossilized bones, “Gus” is described as one of the world’s most complete T. rex skeletons. It was discovered on a South Dakota cattle ranch in 2021.
