Gibraltar and Spain have ended physical border checks, in a move expected to help local businesses. From Wednesday, thousands of people travelling each day between Spain’s southern tip and the British territory will no longer need to cross a physical border. The arrangement followed a formal opening at midnight on Tuesday, when a border fence was removed. It provides new freedom of movement under a historic treaty between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
