EconomyBrazil government now expects 2026 inflation to exceed central bank target
Brazil’s government has raised its forecast for this year’s inflation to 5.1%, up from the 4.5% estimate issued in May. The new projection places consumer-price growth above the central bank’s 3% target. That target allows inflation to move 1.5 percentage points above or below the midpoint. The government’s forecast therefore exceeds the top of the permitted range.
