Volodymyr Zelenskyy has removed Ukraine’s popular defence minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, after six months in the role. The dismissal came during a wide-ranging government reshuffle, despite appeals from foreign partners and civil society for him to remain. Fedorov announced his departure in a Telegram post, describing service to the Ukrainian people as a “great honour.” He was widely credited with transforming the defence ministry and reducing corruption.
