Visa and Mastercard cards are effectively no longer present in the Russian market. Dmitry Dubynin said the cards are vulnerable to physical wear and tear, while the security certificates embedded in their chips eventually expire. He added that these issues require the National Payment Card System to introduce additional technical solutions so the cards can continue functioning properly.
