Nikita Malyshev signed a contract with Russia’s Defense Ministry on April 8, one day after turning 18. Just over two months later, he was killed in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Malyshev became the youngest known Russian serviceman to die in the conflict. He came from Buryatia, a remote Russian region.
