WorldDeadly Chilean storm cuts key highway and floods arid regions
Prolonged winter rain has struck Chile’s normally arid north-central regions. Rising rivers and mudslides have blocked sections of the country’s main highway, disrupting a key route in the copper-exporting nation. At least 10 people have been killed. The storm has also caused flooding across areas unaccustomed to such sustained rainfall.
