EconomyMLIT plan could raise lease fees paid by JR for new Shinkansen lines
An expert panel advising Japan’s transport ministry has outlined a plan concerning lease fees paid by JR companies operating the planned Shinkansen lines. The proposal would require payments to continue for roughly another 30 years after a line has been open for 30 years. It would also create a mechanism allowing fees to be increased when prices rise.
