UNESCO has added Tyre, an ancient coastal city in southern Lebanon, to its list of world heritage sites in danger. The organization announced the move on Wednesday after months of Israeli bombardment. Founded by the Phoenicians around 4,700 years ago, Tyre contains major archaeological treasures. They include two areas protected by UNESCO.
