Meta has put on hold a plan to charge $20 a month for a smart-glasses feature designed to help people hear one another more clearly. The feature operates locally on the glasses and does not require the cloud. Meta spokesperson Tyler Yee confirmed the pause to The Verge. The proposal had drawn backlash because users questioned charging for a capability that does not depend on cloud services.
