SocietyUganda starts emergency food aid after hunger deaths

Uganda has begun distributing emergency food in Karamoja after at least 19 people reportedly died from hunger. Months of drought and failed crops have left the region’s 1.5 million residents facing acute shortages and rising malnutrition. The government plans to provide 9,400 tonnes of relief food over two months and supply drought-resistant, disease-resistant and early-maturing seeds.
