Palmarola has no town and no roads across the island. It also lacks electricity, mobile phone coverage and a ferry terminal. On most days, reaching the island requires taking a small boat from Ponza. The journey crosses five miles of the Tyrrhenian Sea, making the boat the island’s usual connection to the outside world.
