Political projections have become a new way for some overseas advocacy groups to express demands, spreading from Chongqing to New York, Berlin and Sydney. The human rights group China Action has staged 26 projections outside Chinese consulates, featuring June Fourth imagery, Liu Xiaobo, Jimmy Lai and criticism of Xi Jinping. Some consulates have responded with bright lights and barriers.
