TechUMC raises 2026 capex and expands Singapore and Taiwan fabs for AI demand
Taiwanese chipmaker United Microelectronics Corp. said its board approved an expansion plan on Wednesday. The programme includes adding cleanroom capacity at the company’s Singapore facility. It also calls for a new fab building at UMC’s flagship campus in Tainan, Taiwan. The investment is intended to address rising demand driven by artificial intelligence.
