ScienceRecord-breaking El Niño may be forming, strongest in 150 years

The China Meteorological Administration says the El Niño developing in the Pacific is intensifying and could become the strongest in 150 years. Sea temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific continued rising in June, increasing the chance of a super El Niño. The event may last until at least next spring and raise risks of heatwaves, drought and heavy rain.
