Nauru has officially changed its name to the Republic of Naoero, adopting the spelling and pronunciation used in its national language. Its international code will shift from NRU to NRO, and its people will be called dei-Naoero rather than Nauruan. The government said the move honours the country’s heritage, language and identity.
