EconomyIndia’s Bharti Airtel reports 37.3% first-quarter profit rise
Bharti Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom operator, reported a 37.3% increase in first-quarter profit on Tuesday. The company attributed the gain to adding subscribers and to users moving to more expensive plans. The results point to stronger revenue from both customer growth and upgrades. Airtel’s performance was therefore supported by higher-value services as well as a larger subscriber base.
