Swiss military justice has opened 24 investigations since 2022 into possible participation by Swiss citizens in combat in Ukraine. Ten cases are complete and 14 remain ongoing. Swiss law bans citizens from serving as mercenaries in foreign armies, with penalties of up to three years in prison.
