WorldHeatwaves bring an early wine harvest in France

Some French winegrowers, including producers in the Bordeaux region, began picking grapes on Thursday. The harvest is historically early after a summer of repeated heatwaves, drought and destructive wildfires. One grape-picker said they would normally still be on vacation at this point. Winemakers maintain that the environmental turmoil will not damage the quality of the wine itself. Climate change has already pushed harvests earlier, affecting farmers nationwide and leading some to move toward crops that need less water.
