TechAmazon data center could be powered by one of the US’s worst-polluting plants

Amazon is investing in a gas-fired power plant in Pecos County, Texas, to supply its new West Texas data center. The facility, GW Ranch, has a permit allowing up to 33 million tons of CO2 emissions, with 35 turbines slated to provide 7.65 gigawatts mainly to the center. The emissions could undermine Amazon’s Climate Pledge despite its stated commitment.
