At 19, Hitomi Soga was abducted from Japan’s Sado Island and taken to North Korea, where she was told to marry Charles Jenkins, a US soldier who had defected there. They had two daughters. After more than 20 years, Soga returned to Japan and later campaigned for the return of all Japanese abductees.
