SocietyShanmugam and Desmond Lee address detention of three Singapore youths over planned attacks

Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said three self-radicalised Singaporean males, aged 14, 15 and 19, were detained under the Internal Security Act during the past three months. The cases were unrelated, but all three had planned attacks in Singapore. Two intended to target their schools. Education Minister Desmond Lee said schools would not impose blanket security measures such as checking every bag. The statements place the focus on the individual cases while rejecting a universal tightening of school security.
