HealthFirst patients enrolled in record-breaking Ebola treatment trial in DRC
The first patients have entered a trial testing two Ebola drugs in the Ituri region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The programme began only six weeks after the outbreak was declared a public health emergency of international concern. Medical teams currently have no approved medicine to rely on as they try to save patients’ lives. Scientists describe the pace of launching the research as unprecedented, while hoping it will reduce mortality within months.
