SocietyExplosion at Aeon Mall Kumamoto May Have Been Caused by Earthquake Gas Leak

An explosion occurred at Aeon Mall Kumamoto in Kashima, Kumamoto Prefecture, at around 6 p.m. after an earthquake that registered a seismic intensity of 7. The prefectural government said eight people had been rescued from the building by 4 a.m. on the 29th; two died and one was in cardiopulmonary arrest. A gas leak caused by the earthquake is suspected.
