WorldEU says Ceuta incident put its border security to the test

The European Union says it fully supports Spain after emergency talks on last week’s mass crossing into Ceuta. EU officials also acknowledge that the episode revealed lessons the bloc must address. Spain says about 72,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave from Morocco, while roughly 70,000 have since returned. The crisis has highlighted divisions among EU members and placed additional strain on relations within the bloc. At least 83 people have died in connection with the crisis.
