Stefan Doerr, director of the Centre for Wildfire Research at Swansea University, says environmental preparation must improve to reduce fire risks, though they can never be eliminated entirely. France spent Monday trying to contain a wildfire in a forest south of Paris. The blaze scorched about 1,200 hectares. Aircraft overhead and firefighters on the ground worked throughout the day to put out the flames.
