OtherFontainebleau fires ‘contained’ but not extinguished as two arrested
Two fires in the Fontainebleau Forest south of Paris have burned slightly more than 2,000 hectares since Sunday. The local prefect said Tuesday evening that the blazes had been “contained”, although firefighters had not fully extinguished them. Two people were arrested on suspicion of starting the fires. One of them, a volunteer firefighter, confessed to setting twigs alight with matches and gasoline. France 24’s Claire Paccalin reported from Fontainebleau.
